National Content Writer

General Job Description:

Weigel Broadcasting Co. is a multi-platform media company with a remarkably creative, loyal and entrepreneurial team. The digital team is seeking a National Content Writer to create and coordinate the production of written editorial and social media content that engages fans of pop-culture, entertainment and nostalgia. The ideal candidate will have experience writing for a digital property; coordinating articles, quizzes, photos and video assets; and creating a community of fans with short, social and digestible posts.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Write articles, craft quizzes, prepare media assets and curate user-generated content that can transport readers to an era from the past, and provide them with a sense of nostalgia that is positive and powerful. 

Shape the style and sensibility of digital properties for national television networks, including MeTV — the #1 All-Classic Television Channel in the United States — and Start TV.

Collaborate with media executives in graphics, marketing, programming and sales.

Serve as an ambassador of our brands to engage talent, fan groups and organizations.

Reach millions of fans that are visiting our digital properties to remember a moment in time and share that memory with friends, family and colleagues.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience.

A demonstrated passion for pop culture, classic television and emerging digital platforms.

A self-starter who can interact and engage with a variety of staff, freelancers, partners and high profile personalities.

Successful writing experience at a high pace in digital publishing.

Strong copy editing skills.

Knowledge of social media platforms and experience managing messaging across social platforms.

Aptitude and curiosity: someone who wants to learn more, has demonstrated skill growth, and is relentlessly self-improving.

A team player who makes others successful.

Experience with Adobe Photoshop.

Experience with Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro a plus.
