General Job Description:

WCIU-TV, The U gives Chicago a fresh new start to the day with The Jam TV show.  Our station’s morning show airs weekdays 6am-8am.  Bold and unfiltered, the program features a combination of local and national headlines, unique weather coverage and a dedication to the Chicagoans who make the city and surrounding suburbs great. The Jam is in need of an experienced Senior Photojournalist, with strong leadership skills and excellent news judgment. The ideal candidate will be assertive, hands-on and possess an ingenuity to problem solve on the fly.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Supervise a team of Photojournalists to form segments that fit the format of a live show.  

Work with managers, producers, and reporters to effectively enterprise stories as well as cover weather, breaking and general news across Weigel platforms.

Oversee training, scheduling and time sheets for the team. 

Shoot and edit video packages for air, using broadcast backpack technology and DSLR cameras.  

Manage the logistics and planning for remote and station initiatives.

Brainstorm creative and innovative ideas for future segments.  

Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a Top 20 Market.

The ability to conceptualize, book, plan, shoot and edit engaging and visual media is necessary.

Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and thrive under pressure, attacking deadlines and decisions calmly & swiftly while leading a team of photojournalists.

Strong communication and organizational skills

Extensive experience with field ENG photography/lighting/sound techniques, digital newsroom editing, broadcast backpack transmission technology and DSLR/ENG cameras is required

FAA certified drone pilot is preferred.

Must be an efficient project manager, with the skills necessary to redefine television in the nation's third largest market.

The successful candidate must have experience working under tight deadlines, and be able to manage a team of photographers.

Must be able to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
