Audio Operator (Chicago-based)

General Job Description:

Weigel Broadcasting Co is looking for an experienced Audio Operator based out of our Chicago location to be a part of our production team as we continue to grow.  The successful candidate will be responsible for audio across both live and pre-recorded studio productions.  In addition the operator may also work on one off field production audio when needed.  The successful candidate will be able to setup audio routing for the production, eq and mix during production while listening to director/producer commands and react accordingly.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Knowledge of Shure wireless microphones systems

Knowledge of Yamaha and Midas mixing counsels

Good understanding of digital and analog audio routing (Dante is a plus)

Good understanding of live production and recorded mic’ing techniques

Good understanding of audio processing technologies and techniques (i.e. Expander, Gating, EQ, Mixing, Compressors, Limiters, Recording, Echo Cancelation, Noise Cancelation, Virtualization, and Stereo Widening)

Good understanding in live recording or post production audio software (i.e. Pro Tools or, Logic,  Audition, or Nuendo)

Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

4+ years of live or recorded audio experience

Previous experience designing and editing sound, voice, and music playback

Other engineering experience is a plus in the areas of Technical Director, Robotic Cameras, Floor Directing, Lighting, and Steadicam

College Graduate or Equivalent is a Requirement (Communication, engineering, or technology related degree is a plus)

Excellent PC Skills

Good communication skills
